Champions League : Trabzonspor to replace Fenerbahce, Fenerbahce’s loss € 25 Mil.

Trabzonspor of Turkey will replace Fenerbahce Istanbul in Champions League this season. Fenerbahce declared its Champions League-related loss will be €25 Million.

Turkish football champions Fenerbahce’s loss of revenues due to its bar from this season’s Champions League in the ongoing match fixing investigation will exceed €25 Millions($36 million), the club declared at Istanbul Stock Exchange. Trabzonspor, the runner ups of last season will replace the Istanbul based sports club.

Aftermath of Turkey match fixing scandal haunts Fenerbahce

The Turkish Football Federation announced on Wednesday it had barred Fenerbahce from the Champions League competition after UEFA intervened due to the match-fixing scandal investigation indicating Fenerbahce and sent its chairman Aziz Yildirim to prison pending trial.

The UEFA Europe League second leg game between Trabzonspor and Atletico Bilbao due to today is cancelled, Atletico advanced to Europe League group stages, while Trabzonspor is going to play in the Champions League.
