Queen Elizabeth II will be laid to rest after a day-long ceremony. The Queen of England will be honored in various program items this month. Family, international guests but also the people can say goodbye to the 96-year-old, who died on September 8, 2022. Among the royal guests were Prince Albert and Princess Charlène. The Monaco royals paid their tribute to the Queen during a service.
Before the couple entered Westminster Abbey to take their seats, the pair were seen arm in arm. Otherwise, they seem much more reserved at other public appointments. This behavior often leads to rumors about the state of the marriage. But this performance spoke a different language.
Princess Charlène and Albert move closer together
Charlène wore a long, tight-fitting black coat decorated with a brooch. A hat adorned her head. She combined the look with black tights and matching pumps. Her husband, on the other hand, appeared in uniform. The prince wore a deep blue jacket decorated with medals and royal blue trousers with red stripes on the side.
The Monegasques looked visibly touched and seriously looked ahead during the procession. They entered Westminster Abbey after the Dutch royals Princess Beatrix, King Willem-Alexander and his wife Queen Máxima.
The funeral service in honor of Queen Elizabeth II will continue until at least 8:30 p.m. German time. After the Queen’s coffin is lowered into a private crypt, a private burial will follow in the King George VI side chapel. The Queen will be buried next to her husband Prince Philip, who died in 2021.
