Phaselis Tunnel opened in tourism city Antalya
The Phaselis Tunnel, which will ease transportation in Antalya, which hosts millions of tourists every year and stands out with agricultural activities, was put into service with a ceremony.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the opening ceremony of the Phaselis Tunnel, consisting of 1305 meters of double tubes, located in the western part of the Mediterranean coastal road, which is the east-west axis connecting Antalya to the Aegean and Central Anatolian regions, via video conference method.
Speaking at the ceremony, Karaismailoğlu said that Antalya is the apple of the eye of tourism, agriculture and commerce, and that they have advanced in the development of Antalya as well as the rest of the country, with the works they have been carrying out since 2002 under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Pointing out that they have increased the divided road length of Antalya, the pearl of the Mediterranean, from 197 kilometers to 677 kilometers, Karaismailoğlu said, “We have built 20 tunnels with a total length of 21 thousand 473 meters and 154 bridges of 17 thousand 753 meters. We have made a contribution. With the extra-budgetary financing method, we provide the public with an investment of 765 million Euros and a rental fee of 8 billion 555 million Euros without leaving a single cent from the state’s coffers.” he said.
Karaismailoğlu stated that they will increase the divided road network to 38 thousand 60 kilometers and the highway network to 8 thousand 325 kilometers by 2053, in accordance with the environmental scenario they have determined in the Transport and Logistics Master Plan.
Emphasizing that they aim to make Turkey the leading country among the top 10 countries in development, Karaismailoğlu said:
“Our Phaselis Tunnel consists of 1305 meters long 2×2 lane double tube. We have also completed the connection roads with the tunnel. With our tunnel put into service today, the road route will be shortened by 2 kilometers and the travel time will be shortened by 10 minutes. Every road we put into service, just like a river, provides production, employment, “It adds life to trade, tourism and cultural life. We will continue to work day and night to ensure that our country and nation take the place they deserve in the world on the 100th anniversary of our Republic. The best example of this is the giant works we have done in 20 years under the leadership of my President.”
Emphasizing that they have brought giant works to the nation even in the last month alone, Karaismailoğlu stated that they have brought successful and productive works such as 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, Tokat Airport, Malatya Ring Road to the nation.
Expressing that they have laid another stone on the path on which the nation will walk towards the future with each project that has been implemented, Karaismailoğlu said, “We will produce more works with the AK Party staff, who have come together with the determination to work, and we will continue to connect the world to Turkey.” said.
In addition to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Governor Ersin Yazıcı, General Director of Highways Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, AK Party Antalya Provincial President İbrahim Ethem Taş, AK Party Antalya Deputies, directors of public institutions, citizens, and Highways teams attended the ceremony.
After the speeches, Karaismailoğlu made the opening by passing through the Phaselis Tunnel with the Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu in his own vehicle.
