The 16-year-old Pakistani girl Malala Yousufzai has said she wants to return to Pakistan and join politics.

Islamabad, Oct 7/Nationalturk- The 16-year-old Pakistani girl Malala Yousufzai, who was shot Taliban terrorists in Pakistan’s Swat region last year for championing girls’ rights to education, has said she wants to become politician and termed civilian killings and flogging of people as totally un-Islamic.

“I desire to return to Pakistan and join politics. I want to be a politician in Pakistan. I want to change the future of my country and I want to make education compulsory,” Malala told BBC in an interview.

16-year-old Malala lives in Birmingham, United Kingdom with her family. She was attacked by Taliban terrorists in Pakistan’s restive Swat valley in October 2012 while travelling in a bus for speaking out for girls’ rights to education. She sustained critical injuries in the head and remained admitted in hospitals for many months and underwent many operations.

Malala said she hopes the day will come when there will be peace in Pakistan, people will be free, have their rights, and every girl and every boy will be going to school.

Referring to killings and flogging of people in Pakistan, she said, “Killing, torturing and flogging people is totally against Islam. People are misusing the name of Islam.”

‘Talks with Taliban needed to achieve peace’

On Pakistan government’s willingness to talk to dreaded militant outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which targeted her and has threatened to assassinate her, Malala said, “Talks with Taliban were needed to achieve peace. The best way to solve problems and to fight against war is through dialogue”.

She said it is important that the Taliban discusses their demands. “They must do what they want through dialogue”.

“That’s not an issue for me, that’s the job of the government and that’s also the job of America,” she further said.

She marked her 16th birthday with a live address from UN headquarters and was described by former British prime minister David Cameron as icon of courage and hope.
