“Full House” star Dave Coulier has cancer

Concern for Dave Coulier. The 65-year-old "Full House" star has made his battle with cancer public.

Actor Dave Coulier is probably known to a wide audience primarily through the 1990s cult series “Full House,” in which he played Joey Gladstone. Now the 65-year-old has announced that he has cancer.

As he reported as a guest on the US show “Today,” he was diagnosed with stage three non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system. Coulier described his health battle as a “rollercoaster” and admitted that the diagnosis hit him hard at first: “I felt like I had been punched in the stomach, I thought that would never happen to me. You always just hear that it happens to someone else.”

“Had an incredible life”

Coulier first discovered a lump in his groin area. A doctor then examined him to see if the cancer had spread further. During this time, he explained to his wife Melissa: “I have no problem with whatever the news is, no matter how devastating it is. I’ve had an incredible life.” Finally, he received the relieving news that the cancer was limited to his lymphatic system.

The actor is currently undergoing intensive chemotherapy and describes his experience as mixed: “There are days when I feel incredible. Then there are other days when… I just lie down.” The treatment is expected to last until February 2025.

The diagnosis brought back painful memories for Coulier of the loss of his mother and sister to breast cancer and the death of his niece from the same disease.
