Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan met President Nicolas Sarkozy in Paris.
Erdogan and Sarkozy discuss Turkey’s bid to join the European Union and dealings with Iran and nuclear issues.
Before arriving in Paris Erdogan said he thought the way to deal with Iran is through diplomatic channels. Sarkozy remains a champion of tougher international economic sanctions against Tehran.
France and Germany opposes Turkey joining the EU. Turkey began membership negotiations in 2005. Economically, France and Turkey enjoy smooth enough relations– France is Turkey’s second-largest foreign investor.
During the meeting, Erdogan invited Sarkozy to Turkey, and French president accepted the invitation.
Sarkozy said that he might pay a visit to Turkey after November, 2010.
