United States president, Barack Obama has announced on Monday that he has nominated, Elena Kagan, current solicitor general, will be nominated to join U.S. Supreme Court.
Kagan, a Harvard University Law School graduate, if confirmed will be the fourth woman in the Supreme Court, the country’s highest court. She will also be the youngest member of the Court for decades.
There was much speculation in the media before the presidents, announcement on Monday about who will be nominated for the U.S. Supreme Court.
The nomination for Kagan came after Justice John Paul Stevens, 90, who has been in court sicne 1975, announced in April that he will be retiring at the end of the current Supreme Court term.
