Beşiktaş chairman Yıldırım Demirören has allegedly said that he will pay for Guti’s transfer fee and two year five million contract from his own pocket.
The alleged speech came from Spanish sports website Marca.com where whey cited the chairman to have said that he will pay for the playmakers wages from his own pocket.
The news of the Real Madrid legend coming to Turkish giants Beşiktaş has been seen as one of the biggest transfers of the season with the Istanbul club wanting to do well both domestically and in Europe.
Demirören described the playmaker as a genuinely great player who loves the game.
However Yıldırım Demirören has come under heavy criticism from the Turkish media and from within Beşiktaş for his remarks on paying for the players wages while at Beşiktaş from his own pocket.
Beşiktaş, according to the clubs Auditing Organization, has an alleged 270 Million TL (Turkish Lira), $175 million debt, with a large amount of the money owed to chairman Yıldırım Demirören.
Demirören has been allegedly paying for transfer fees and wages of several players past and present in which tens of millions of dollars are owed to the chairman.
The Chairman’s latest speech has been seen as a form of letting his club down as he has been showing Beşiktaş as having no money to spend on players and putting himself forward.
Now the Turkish media is waiting for the response of other board members of the Beşiktaş club to see their reactions as this type of behavior was normal in Turkey, but many are believed to be upset by the Chairman saying such things in front of International media.
