Yannick Noah, tennis star from the 1980s and the father of Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah’s father told the French media legalizing the use of performance-enhancing drugs is the best way to battle doping in sports.
Paris / NationalTurk – French tennis legend Yannick Noah, and the father of Chigago Bulls center Joakim Noah, has been slammed by France’s sports minister and Spanish athletes after claiming the best way to battle doping in sport was to legalize the use of drugs and accusing Spanish athletes of using drugs to enhance their performances.
Yannick Noah’s radical theory is based on the fact stopping the hypocrisy and accepting that the best attitude to adopt is to accept doping in sports. The 1983 French Open winner and the father of eccentric basketballer Joakim Noah drew fierce criticism from Spanish athletes. ‘I found it unlikely that Spain can be the leader in many sports, football, basketball and tennis with solely a smart education and training discipline’, the elder Noah claimed.
Spanish athletes react to Noah’s comments on drugs and doping in sports
Spaniards, especially tennis players reacted to Noah’s comments on doping.Spanish tennis player David Ferrer reacted, telling DPA: ‘Your son, Joakim Noah of the Chicago Bulls, plays in the NBA, where there are no doping controls. This is not the best person to talk, I think it’s total ignorance. For a person who has played tennis and knows how the sport works to say that is outrageous with reason or thinking.’
Current World No. 2 Rafael Nadal was more harsh about Noah’s comments: ‘ He’s plain stupid and maybe he was drunk or… ‘ and then made a gesture tipping his hand toward his mouth to indicate that Noah might have been using it.
