Carolynne Poole who was eliminated last year at boot camp, this year’s performance  favorite X Factor UK.

Now, we have the first great female singer of the competition. We knew she was going to be good after making it all the way to the judges’ houses phase of the competition, but this was far better than anything we could imagined her doing last year. There was more of a soul behind it, and not just some empty feeling of a good voice and nothing else.

Her dreams of stardom were dashed when Louis Walsh sent her home following the Judges’ Houses stage of The X Factor in 2011.

But on tonight’s episode (Sunday) of the ITV1 show, former reject Carolynne Poole proved she was well and truly back with a vengeance. 

In a bid for a second chance at success, the 31-year-old hopeful took to the stage to perform a rendition of Emeli Sande track Clown. 

She said: ‘I don’t think Louis thought I was a star, I was heartbroken. Looking back now though, I know that last year I was a blank, there was nothing behind my eyes. I was just like shut off.’

Carolynne continued: ‘Last year, myself and my husband had been through IVF and it had failed, then my marriage was in tatters. I had lost him and I had lost the hope of a family and I had lost the hope of a career singing.

Meanwhile, Gary Barlow told Carolynne she was the ‘dark horse’ of the competition, before she received four yes votes from the judging panel.

Carolynne will now progress to the Boot Camp stage of The X Factor.
