Her appearances are becoming increasingly rare: Queen Elizabeth II visited the traditional Chelsea Flower Show in London and wowed with a pink outfit.
The Queen rarely attends public appointments. The British monarch is now trying to implement many things via video telephony. The 96-year-old made an exception for the Chelsea Flower Show in London.
Queen Elizabeth II visits the flower show
On Monday she attended the flower show in the British capital. Queen Elizabeth II chose an outfit suitable for the occasion. The Queen wore a light-colored dress with a floral pattern, a statement coat in pink and a matching lipstick. She combined black shoes and white gloves.
Keith Weed, President of the Royal Horticultural Society, drove the Queen around in a golf buggy and showed the highlights of the show. The Queen was accompanied by Prince Edward, his wife Sophie von Wessex and Princess Beatrice, among others.
Until recently, it was unclear whether the Queen would appear. Only shortly before events does the palace announce whether the queen is coming to avoid disappointment.
Birthday parade without the Queen?
In the past few days, the Queen has been much more present again, after she had previously canceled many appointments – including the traditional opening of Parliament – and had other family members represent her. On some dates, the Queen showed up with a cane.
However, she is reportedly refusing a wheelchair despite her occasional mobility issues. It is eagerly awaited in London how often the Queen will appear at the celebrations for her throne anniversary in early June. As “The Sunday Times” reports, the Royal is to stay away from her birthday parade on June 2 for the first time in 70 years. However, this has not yet been confirmed.
