WhatsApp is getting numerous long-awaited features

WhatsApp is getting numerous new features that users have been asking for for a long time.

A release date has also been set.

The Facebook group Meta has announced numerous new functions for its Messenger Whatsapp that users have been asking for for a long time. The focus here is primarily on privacy and the protection of one’s own online presence.

Among other things, users can now personalize the online display and leave groups without a warning. In addition, it is no longer possible to take a screenshot on the mobile phone of media that has been sent as a one-time view.

The group has already given a period for the publication of the functions: These are to be made available worldwide this month.

From then on, a universal message will no longer be sent to the chat in groups when a person has left – only the group administrator will be notified. In addition to this, users can then also decide for themselves who can see whether they are “online” or not. The display can also be completely deactivated if desired. So far this has not been possible.

Deleting sent messages is significantly improved

The developers have just improved another popular feature of the messenger. Messages that have already been sent could previously only be deleted in a little over an hour, but users now have significantly more time. This extends the deletion period from 1 hour and 8 minutes to 2 days and 12 hours. WhatsApp announced this via the official Twitter account.

To delete a sent message, you have to press and hold it on your smartphone. A selection menu then opens, in which the “Delete” option is located at the very bottom. There you can also decide whether the message should only be deleted for yourself (“Delete for me”) or also for the other contact or in groups of the other contacts (“Delete for all”).

But be careful: If a message is deleted, it will have disappeared, but the message “You have deleted this message” appears in its place, which others can also see.
