West Ham have revealed they made audacious but failed attempts to land Fernando Torres and Carlos Tevez on loan from Chelsea in the latest winter transfer window.
London / Nationalturk – Fernando Torres is a huge dissapointment for Chelsea, far worse than Andy Caroll is for Liverpool. The former Spanish International has not scored in over 21 hours of football stretching back to October and West Ham hoped to coax him to the Championship.
However, Chelsea dismissed the transfer bid for the £50 million striker, who was required to stand in for Didier Drogba as the Ivory Coast international took part in the African Cup of Nations.

West Ham co-owner David Sullivan revealed in the West Ham Till I Die blog: “We tried to get Torres from Chelsea.
‘ Well if he couldn’t score in the Premier League, come along with us for a month. We might fire him up! The Spain striker, who has scored just four goals this season, was a target for the Championship club in promotion race in the winter transfer window, although the Hammers were knocked back following an approach for the former Atletico Madrid striker, just the way they were rejected by Manchester City for their transfer bid for Carlos Tevez.
