Wayne Rooney death threat for wanting to leave Man United

Wayne Rooney has been threatened with death by Manchester United fans after a group of 30 supporters gathered in front of the stars multimillion pound mansion in Cheshire.

Hooded Manchester United fans group outside Wayne Rooney's mansion to confront the forward.

The group opened a banner whish wrote “Join City & Die” while close sources also said that the 24-year-old forward was shouted at by members of the group saying “leave United and we will kill you.”

Rooney who will be celebrating his 25th birthday on Sunday was called by members of the masked and hooded men to confront them but was not seen. One source said that the stars home number was called and he was asked to come out.

The police were eventually called to disperse the group who left the mansion without any incidents.

Manchester United fans are especially worried that the England international who transferred from bitter rivals Everton six years ago will move to Manchester City, one of the few clubs in Europe who can afford his price tag and wages.

The so called ‘Rooney Saga’ started this week after it had emerged that Wayne Rooney whose private life was scattered all over the front pages in the past few months had refused to sign a new contract with United.

Sir Alex Ferguson who was informed of the news back in August through Rooney’s agent and then Rooney himself was “dumbfounded” and “shocked”.

However, it is also speculated that Rooney has already agreed to sign with Spanish giants Real Madrid after the star spoke with Jose Mourinho during the summer.

Jose Mourinho has been known for wanting a new striker after France international Karim Benzemer failed to live up to expectation since his multimillion Euro transfer from French side Olympique Lyon.

It has also been suggested by the same source which linked Rooney with Mourinho that a cash (£55 million) plus Benzema deal may be struck with Manchester United.

Rooney cited a lack of ambition and no prospect for the future as the primary reasons for the star to leave Man United.

Rooney has won Champions League, three Premier League Cups, a world club championship and three League Cups since 2004 when he signed with the Red devils.

Rio Ferdinand was faced by United fans in 2005 when the England International refused to sign a new contract.
