US drone kills 10 militants on Pak-Afghan border

In the first US drone attack in over five months, 10 militants were killed and many others injured when US drone fired missiles on militants near Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

Islamabad, May 14/Nationalturk- A US drone fired missiles on militant safe havens near Pakistan-Afghanistan border killing at least 10 suspected militants and injuring dozen others.

Pakistan newspaper, Express Tribune quoted an official of political administration from Khyber Agency in restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province as saying that  a US drone fired three missiles in the morning in Nazyan district of Afghanistan, near Pakistan border.

The officials said the site of the US drone attack was just two or three kilometers from the Pakistani border.

‘US drone fired 3 missiles’

Another Pakistan newspaper The Dawn quoted official sources as saying that 10 suspected militants were killed and 14 others injured in the US drone strike, first in five months.

“US drone  fired three missiles on a militant’s compound and some vehicles of the militants were damaged,” they said.

The last drone attack had taken place in the last week of December, 2013, killing four suspected militants.

According to officials, US drone targeted Pakistan’s banned Lashkar-e-Islam (LeI) militant group, Afghan Taliban as well as smugglers.

The spokesperson of Hizb-e-Islami Afghanistan, Haroon Zarghoon said several Taliban members were injured in the strike.
