US actress Mary Mara drowned in river / The US actress Mary Mara drowned last Sunday (local time) while swimming in the Saint Lawrence River in the US state of New York.
Her death was confirmed by her spokesman on Monday, several US media reported. Mara was 61 years old.
Mara was best known for her appearances in well-known US series such as “Law & Order”, “Ray Donovan” and “Emergency Room”. According to “TMZ” she starred in 20 films and 40 TV productions. “Mary was one of the best actresses I’ve ever met. She had a great sense of humor and a unique outlook on life,” the Fox News rep was quoted as saying.
Police found body in river
According to a press release from the New York State Police, the police were informed about a swimming accident in the town of Cape Vincent on Sunday morning at 8.10 a.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the lifeless body of a woman identified as Mary Mara in the river. Authorities said the body showed no signs of violence. An autopsy is pending. There are further investigations.
The tabloid magazine “TMZ” reported that Mara was visiting her sister and jumped into the water to do sports.
The St. Lawrence River forms the border between the US state of New York and the Canadian province of Ontario. It is considered the third longest river on the North American continent.
