OFK Belgrad Vs Galatasaray 5-1
After the disappointing Wednesday night encounter of Turkish side Fenerbahçe with BSC Young Boys where they lost 1-0 and were out of the Champions League, Turkish football fans had a smile on their face on Thursday.
Turkish giants Galatasaray managed to pass their hurdle in comfortable style netting 5 goals at the Omladinski stadium, against Serbian side BSC Young Boys, after a disappointing match a week ago at the Ali Samiyen Stadium, Istanbul.
The Turkish giants had drawn 2-2 all in their first leg Champions League Playoff game against the Serbian side after going 2-0 ahead and left the Galatasaray fans disappointed.
Though many fans had been upset with Galatasaray’s football, the Istanbul side managed to redeem themselves on Thursday beating OFK Belgrad 5-1 in a performance that reminded fans of the 2000 period.
Galatasaray scored the opener on the 12th minute through Mustafa Sarp and then made it 2-0 through Australian International Kewell on the 22nd minute.
Though Turkish morals were slightly broken after Nikolic pulled one back for OFK Belgrad, on 32nd minute Galatasaray and Kewell were back in action and the attacking midfielder managed to score his teams 3rd and his own second of the game.
Galatasaray superstar Arda Turan made it four on the 71st minute and finally Mehmet Batdal scored in the 81st minute to make it five for the Turkish giants.
The fourth and final UEFA Europa League play-off draw will be made on Friday 6th August.
