Turkey: Police in Ankara prevents attack on PM Erdogan / Breaking News
Before the seat of government of the Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan in Ankara, police have apparently stopped a suicide bomber. The officers arrested the man. Some media reports that he had been shot.
A suspect has Turkish media reports tried to approach with explosives the seat of government of Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara.
The police stopped the man and arrested him. He is reportedly suspected of having carried explosives with him.
The exact sequence of events is currently unclear. The newspaper “Hürriyet” writes that the security forces had overwhelmed the suspect when he tried to activate the detonator of his bomb.
Local television stations report that security forces had fired on the suspect. The man had been shot. The state news agency Anadolu had reported that the man had been taken to a hospital after he was shot in the foot.
Later, however, the agency reported that police had arrested the suspects after they had fired three warning shots into the air.
Surrounding streets were cordoned off a wide area.
