Turkey Match Fixing Scandal getting deeper with newest detainments
Trabzonspor president and ex Federation executive are the latest detained suspects over match-fixing scandal in Turkey.
Turkish police have detained the president of Trabzonspor and a former official of the Turkish Football Federation for questioning in a growing probe into match fixing.
Turkish Football : Darkest Days
Police detained Trabzonspor President Sadri Sener early on Monday, a day after a court charged and sent Fenerbahce President Aziz Yildirim into prison, pending trial. Fenerbahce won the title this year, Trabzonspor are the runner ups.
Police also detained former football federation official Levent Kizil over allegations concerning the stolen FIFA Footballer Agents Exam in Turkey.
Turkey Match Fixing Scandal Widenes
The raids come as the federation considers what, if any, measures it will take against Fenerbahce. The decision must be made by Friday; the deadline for notifying UEFA of which teams will play in European competitions. Potential sanctions include stripping the club of its title and relegating it to the second division.
