Mourning for David Warner. The English film and theater star, who appeared as Fiesling Spicer Lovejoy in “Titanic” in 1997, died shortly before his 81st birthday. This is confirmed by his family in a statement that is available to the British BBC, among others.
Accordingly, Warner died on Sunday at Denville Hall, a retirement home for professional actresses and actors on the north-west edge of London. “For the past 18 months, he has dealt with his diagnosis with his inherent grace and dignity,” his family said. The exact diagnosis is not explained.
“Good-hearted man, partner and father”
But Warner’s family say they are heartbroken and miss and remember a “kind, generous and compassionate man, partner and father”. He is survived by his partner Lisa Bowerman, son Luke, daughter-in-law Sarah, good friend Jane Spencer, first wife Harriet Evans and many close friends.
In “Titanic,” he played the villainous sidekick of actual villain Caledon “Cal” Hockley (Billy Zane), the wealthy fiancé of Rose Dewitt Bukater (Kate Winslet). As Spicer Lovejoy, Warner made sure that the valuable diamond necklace was found on her lover Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio) and that he was imprisoned as a thief. Warner had also worked on the 1979 film “S.O.S. Titanic”.
Most recently, Warner was in the 2020 short series “Teen Titans Go!” to see. In 2018 he starred in “Mary Poppins Returns”. He has also appeared in several “Star Trek” films, “Scream 2” and a few episodes of “Twin Peaks” during his 60-year career.
