After Putin’s troops shelled the capital with rockets in the early hours of the morning, heavy fighting broke out on the streets of Kiev.
According to BILD information, Russian and Ukrainian troops are facing each other in the northern Oblonsky district. Infantry fighting vehicles are deployed on the Ukrainian side, while ground troops have marched into the city on Putin’s side – these could be paratroopers from Russia or Belarus. It is not known whether Russian tanks have already crossed the city limits.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense confirmed the invasion: the first Russian units had advanced into the capital Kiev. “Saboteurs” were in the Obolon district of northern Kiev, the agency said on Facebook.
Gunfire is currently being exchanged and people are running away to get to safety. Putin’s troops are advancing on Kiev with heavy military equipment.
A tweet from the Ministry of Defense on Friday shows how desperate the Ukrainian side is. It says: “We ask citizens to inform us about hostile movements. Build Molotov cocktails, neutralize the occupier!” And further to the civilians: “Be careful! Don’t leave the house!”
The Ministry of Defense confirmed that Russian troops had entered the city.

Russia closes airspace to British planes
Russia has closed its airspace to British planes. The Russian aviation authority announced on Friday in Moscow that machines leased in Great Britain were also affected by the overflight ban.
This is in response to a landing ban on Russian state airline Aeroflot imposed by Britain after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The authority referred to an agreement between the two countries “that the airlines of both countries receive fair and equal rights”.
