The interview with Oprah Winfrey, in which Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry unpacked the differences with the royal family, went around the world.
Especially the moment when Meghan spoke badly about her sister-in-law, Duchess Catherine, was a thorn in Prince William’s side.
As much as the British population in particular would like a reconciliation between Prince William, 39, and Prince Harry, 37, this will probably not become a reality for the time being. At least not as long as Duchess Meghan, 40, continues to be at Harry’s side and has a strong influence on him.
William is said to have tried to reason with his brother from an early age. The relationship is developing far too quickly and Harry should be careful not to “let the lust overwhelm him,” Williams objected. There are also said to have been differences between Meghan and William’s wife, Duchess Catherine, 40. One situation in particular has shaped the relationship between the two duchesses in public to this day.
Tearful argument between Meghan and Kate
It was May 2018 when Meghan met for a flower girl fitting due to her upcoming wedding to Kate and the situation is said to have escalated. “The Sun” wrote of Meghan at the time: “Insiders said the pressure of the ‘stressful’ fitting was too much for her sister-in-law and the Duchess of Cambridge Kate was left devastated and in tears.”
However, when Meghan and Harry were interviewed by Oprah Winfrey, 68, three years later, the former actress presented a different version of events. When asked if Meghan made Kate cry, she replied: “No. The opposite happened. … She [Kate] was upset about something. She admitted it and bought me flowers.”
One moment in particular was the last straw for William
A moment of the scandalous interview that is said to have bothered William the most. Royal expert and author Tina Brown told The Telegraph: “William was disgusted by Meghan’s attack on Kate for not being able to respond. But that’s nothing compared to how angry he’ll be when this book comes out. “
By “this book” is meant Harry’s planned memoir, due out later this year, which his friends say will shake the monarchy to the core.
