About two weeks after the death of director Dieter Wedel († 82), the death of his widow Uschi Wolters († 74) became known on Saturday (July 30). A common confidant of the couple, the ARD lottery fairy Franziska Reichenbacher, has told the “Bild” newspaper how the two of them were and how they experienced their last days.

According to Franziska Reichenbacher, Wolter’s extremely aggressive tumor was only discovered very late: “The fact that both died so quickly one after the other is tragic and incredibly sad. A few weeks before his death, Dieter came back to the Eppendorf Clinic. It was only at this time that Uschi was diagnosed with one tumor was also recorded at the UKE,” says Reichenbacher. Particularly emotional: Wedel and Wolters were put on the same ward and were able to say goodbye to each other. The ARD-Lottofee emphasizes: “Dieter and Uschi knew what was going on with them. Both were incredibly brave.”
Franziska Reichenbacher wanted to help the family
There was never any doubt that the lottery fairy would support the family as a close confidant. Compared to “Bild” she describes her motivation as follows: “Out of deep respect for this woman, who didn’t always have it easy and didn’t have any relatives, I took care of her. By the way, I can only advise everyone, it’s an important, comforting one experience and helps with the grief work.”
