An U.S. ship-building company has paid compensation to the family of a Turkish admiral who died of cancer after serving for years on a donated warship containing asbestos from US navy to Turkish navy.

Istanbul, Turkey / The destroyer Adatepe D 353, which was purchased by Turkish navy from the United States in 1971 destroyed the life of an Turkish admiral who served at the asbestos-ridden warship.

The admiral’s family asked to remain anonymous and stated thay had sought legal compensation after they learned that the late officer died of cancer due to the asbestos used in the U.S.-constructed warship.

A court sentenced the ship yard company that built the destroyer to pay an undisclosed amount of money to the family as compensation for the admiral’s death of cancer.

Turkish lawyers Özge Haktan and Özlem Nur Öztürk spoke about the court’s ruling. The sentence sets a precedent for the families of thousands of other Turkish sailors who have died of, or have suffered from, cancer to seek legal compensation from the Us-based company. Records indicate that the Turkish Navy possessed a total of 25 warships built using asbestos, all of them purchased from, or donated by the USA.

The first line of the asbestos-laden warships were donated to Turkey in 1949 by the US , the report. Turkey, led by a bunch of American ass lickers and ignorant fools continued to acquire ships that contained asbestos through donations and purchases in subsequent years, since they were ‘ American ‘.

This marks the first time a member of Turkish Army received compensation who worked on asbestos-ridden ships. Previously the case has been sen in US, Italy and Greece.
