Syria : Military deserters slay 27 Syrian soldiers in Deraa
Syrian defecters killed at least 27 pro Assad Syrian army soldiers and security force members in a series of gunfights in the southern Syrian province of Deraa in the early hours, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights announced.
Beirut / NationalTurk – The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights group stated the Syrian army deserters battled forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in two locations in the city of Deraa. High casualties among security forces suggested coordinated strikes by the army rebels, who have escalated their attacks on military targets in recent weeks.
Rami Abdulrahman of the Observatory said in the fighting near Musayfrah, east of Deraa, all 15 military personnel at a joint army and security checkpoint were killed.
Syria : War and Protests take lives lile there is no tomorrow
The United Nations called a total of 5,000 armymen and civilians have been perished in Bashar Al-Assad’s meltdown on protests against his iron fist rule which broke out in Deraa nine months ago, inspired by uprisings elsewhere in the Arab world in the so called Arab spring.
The protests have been increasingly overshadowed by the armed insurgency against Assad’s forces. Authorities say armed groups have targeted civilians and security forces, who are for Assad regime since the start of the Syrian uprising, slaying more than 1,100 soldiers and police.
