American football club LA Galaxy signed Swedish star Zlatan Ibrahimovic / Swedish football star Ibrahimovic moves to LA Galaxy
The club announced their new signing on Twitter with a video in which Ibrahimovic was wearing his new team’s jersey.
“Los Angeles…Welcome to Zlatan,” said the 36-year-old towering striker in the video.
Ibrahimovic will wear the number 9 jersey at LA Galaxy. “Coming to play in the United States, it is only fitting for me to join the most successful team in Major League Soccer, the LA Galaxy,” Ibrahimovic said on the club’s official website.
“I am excited to join a club with a winning legacy that has embodied soccer in Los Angeles for over 20 years. I would like to thank everyone at the club for making it possible to play for the LA Galaxy. I am looking forward to joining my teammates, playing at StubHub Center in front of our fans and helping our team compete this season,” he added.
His previous club, Manchester United, confirmed Ibrahimovic’s exit Thursday on its website. The player on Twitter thanked the Manchester United community, including his teammates, the staff and fans, for their support.
In July 2016, Ibrahimovic made his way to Manchester United after playing for French giants Paris Saint-Germain, where he scored 156 goals in 180 matches.
During his spell at Manchester United, Ibrahimovic scored 29 goals in 53 matches.
Ibrahimovic helped Manchester United win Europe’s second-tier international club competition, the UEFA Europa League, in 2017.
