After successfully extending the contract with Thomas Müller, FC Bayern is still working flat out on other personal details – including Manuel Neuer. What about the national goalkeeper?
While the 2021/22 season for FC Bayern ended with the title win against Borussia Dortmund two weeks ago, planning for the new season is already underway in the background. The focus is primarily on the question of which squad Julian Nagelsmann can start the race with.
In addition to newcomers, the Bavarians want to retain their top performers in the long term. The contract with Thomas Müller was extended early last week until 2024. And with Manuel Neuer, the next FCB star could soon follow.
“We have all the time in The World”
Recently, reports have been circulating that the 36-year-old goalkeeper is letting Bayern “float” and is in no hurry to sign a new contract. After the Bundesliga game against VfB Stuttgart, Neuer commented as follows: “I don’t have to extend the contract yet, we have all the time in the world.”
Unlike Serge Gnabry or Robert Lewandowski, where there is currently no real trend as to how things will continue in the summer, the signs at Neuer are clearly pointing to whereabouts. As the “Bild” reports, there is already a basic agreement between Bayern and Neuer. The DFB star has been playing in Munich for eleven years and, according to his own statements, feels very comfortable in the Bavarian capital. According to reports, Neuer is also quite open to the idea of staying with the German record champions until the end of his career.
Bavaria is aiming for an extension until 2024
An agreement with the club only seems to be a matter of time, as Neuer himself indicated: “The talks are going quite well,” emphasized the goalkeeper in an interview with “DAZN”.
According to “Bild”, the last details of the contract in terms of duration and salary would have to be clarified. According to rumours, FCB is offering the multiple world goalkeeper an extension until 2024 – as was the case recently with Müller.
A prerequisite for Neuer should be that Bayern can continue to muster a competitive team that can play for the title, especially in the Champions League. With the extension of Manuel Neuer’s contract, another building block would be set.
