Somalia’s President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed on Sunday met officials from Turkish relief organizations, thanking them for the humanitarian aid they had extended to combat drought and famine in the country.
Ahmed received at the Mogadishu Airport representatives from Turkey’s International Development and Cooperation Agency, the Turkish Red Crescent, the Ministry of Health, Directorate of Religious Affairs as well as charity organizations Kimse Yok Mu Association, Cansuyu, Deniz Feneri and IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation.
“We are grateful for the helping hand that Turkey extended to us,” Ahmed said, adding that Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Somalia was of historic importance for his country.
