A number of flights have been delayed due to heavy snowfall at the Ataturk Airport in Istanbul.
While plains are being washed with anti-icing, water-alcohol mixture, snow plowers are also constantly working in the airport apron. In case of icing, the landing fields have been closed and controled by the teams of General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMI).
About 30 of inbound and outbound flights have been delayed so far.
Teams are on duty for 24 hours
The regional director for İstanbul Atatürk International Airport, Celal Ozugur, stated that landing fields are open to the flights, there is nothing adverse.
Saying that airplains is exposed of anti-icing and de-icing processes Ozugur added, “Certain parts of plains such as wings, engines, tail and body are protected by alcohol sprayed by a special kind of vehicle.
