Skytrax Selected: 2023 World’s Best Airports

International air transport rating agency Skytrax has announced its list of the world's best airports for 2023. Istanbul Airport rose 2 places.

British consultancy company Skytrax has been choosing the best airports in the world every year since 1999, within the scope of the “World Airport Awards”. The list of the world’s best airports, where Istanbul airport rose to 6th place;

More than 550 airports were examined and evaluated according to various criteria for the world’s best airports ranking in 2023. Criteria such as the cleanliness of the toilets and toilets, the accessibility and friendliness of the personnel in the facility were also taken into consideration. The ranking is based on a survey of airport visitors between August 2022 and February 2023.

Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar, which has been at the top for the last 2 years, has been replaced by Changi Airport in Singapore this year.

Congratulating Singapore Airport, Skytrax CEO Edward Plaisted said, “The award is a clear recognition of the teamwork of all airport staff who have contributed to the success of Changi Airport.”

Qatar’s Hamad International Airport and Tokyo Haneda Airport took second and third places in this year’s Skytrax rankings.

Istanbul Airport, which was in the 8th place last year, moved up 2 places to the 6th place. Istanbul Airport also won the “World’s Most Family-Friendly Airport” and “Southern Europe’s Best Airport” awards. Hosting more than 60 million passengers, it was determined as the “Best Airport by Number of Passengers”.

The top 10 in the 2023 list of the world’s best airports are as follows;

1 – Changi Airport, Singapore
2 – Hamad International Airport, Doha, Qatar
3 – Tokyo International Airport (Haneda), Japan
4 – Incheon International Airport, Seoul, South Korea
5 – Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, France
6 – Istanbul Airport, Turkey
7 – Munich Airport, Germany
8 – Zurich Airport, Switzerland
9 – Narita International Airport, Tokyo, Japan
10 – Madrid-Barajas Airport, Spain

Top airports by number of passengers:

60+ million passengers – Istanbul Airport
50 to 60 million passengers – Tokyo Haneda Airport
40 to 50 million passengers – Seattle-Tacoma International Airport
30 to 40 million passengers – Singapore Changi Airport
20 to 30 million passengers – Zurich Airport
10 to 20 million passengers – Incheon Airport
5 to 10 million passengers – Kansai International Airport
Less than 5 million passengers – Centrair Nagoya Airport
