Ricky Martin has finally announced that he is gay and ended rumours surrounding the Puerto Rico-born singers sexuality.

The star who had constantly ran away from questions involving his sexuality hurt the feelings of millions of women around the globe.

Though Ricky’s hight in fame was in the 90’s with his hit song “Livin’ la Vida Loca” which most people will still remember today. The Latin American star has soled 60 million albums world wide and is planning to publish an autobiography which is when he decided to admit his true sexuality.

The heartthrob described himself on his website as a “fortunate homosexual man”. and continued, Many people told me: “Ricky it’s not important”, “it’s not worth it”, “all the years you’ve worked and everything you’ve built will collapse”, “many people in the world are not ready to accept your truth, your reality, your nature”. Because all this advice came from people who I love dearly, I decided to move on with my life not sharing with the world my entire truth. Allowing myself to be seduced by fear and insecurity became a self-fulfilling prophecy of sabotage. Today I take full responsibility for my decisions and my actions.

Martin who has two sons who were born with a surrogate mother in 2008 also said “some things were too heavy for me to keep inside … Enough is enough. This has to change. This was not supposed to happen 5 or 10 years ago, it is supposed to happen now. Today is my day, this is my time, and this is my moment.

“What will happen from now on? It doesn’t matter. I can only focus on what’s happening to me in this moment. The word “happiness” takes on a new meaning for me as of today. It has been a very intense process.

Ricky who was nominated as one of the best looking people on earth in the People Magazine, first caught onto fame with Latin boy band “Menudo” and became a solo artist in 1990. The star played received a role as bartender and singer “Miguel Morez” in the American soap opera General Hospital.

Ricky then turned his concentration over to music again and even performed on Broadway where he played the romantic lead, “Marius Pontmercy”, in Les Miserables.

Martin then turned into English music where his album in 1999 topped the charts in the UK, United States, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, France, Greece, India, Japan, Guatemala, Mexico, Russia, Turkey and many more countries.
