Five people have been killed in a shooting at an apartment complex south of Seattle Washington, including a suspect who was shot by officers.
Police say officers responded to a 9:30pm emergency call of shots being fired at the Pinewood Apartments complex in Federal Way.
In addition to the possible suspect, the victims also include three other men and one woman.
Arriving police spotted two injured men on the ground in a parking lot and one of them reached for a gun as the officers moved in to assist them, a Federal Way police spokeswoman says.
At that point, other officers opened fire.
The man was killed but it wasn’t immediately clear if it was from police gunfire.
The other man on the ground and another man in the parking lot were found dead.
In a search of the complex, police found yet another dead man in one apartment and a dead woman in another.
Police flooded the scene and carried out searches of the area, and authorities said afterwards they did not think another shooter was on the loose.
Police are trying to determine if the woman was accidentally hit by gunfire.
It is not clear what set off the gunfire.
