Another spy arrested. The Military Counterintelligence Service identified a Russian citizen who was conducting intelligence activities to the detriment of the Republic of Poland.
The man was arrested by the Military Police and heard accusations. The court decided to arrest him temporarily.
Based on the materials of the Military Counterintelligence Service, the Military Gendarmerie detained a Russian citizen suspected of acting for the benefit of Russian intelligence. The man, acting on behalf of the Russian services, carried out activities to the detriment of the Republic of Poland. The arrest took place on April 6 – we read in the statement of the Military Contingent in Warsaw.
The evidence collected by the SKW shows that the man obtained information on the combat readiness of the Polish Armed Forces and NATO troops at the request of the Russian secret services. The detainee was transferred to the prosecutor’s office, where he heard the charge of committing the offense of espionage, i.e. the charge under Art. 130 sec. 1 of the Criminal Code.
The findings of the Military Counterintelligence Service indicated that he was engaged in espionage activities for the intelligence of the Russian Federation. It had, inter alia, collect information about military units, their equipment and staffing situation, the press department of the National Public Prosecutor’s Office reported.
The suspect is a Russian citizen who has lived in Poland for 18 years. He ran a business in our country. Extensive evidence has been secured in the investigation, which is currently being analyzed. At the request of the prosecutor’s office, the court decided to detain the detained for three months.
The evidence collected by the SKW in another case allowed to identify in recent days also two Belarusian citizens who conduct intelligence activities in Poland for the benefit of Belarusian secret services. Based on information from the SKW, on April 4, 2022, the suspects were arrested by the Military Police.
These people are suspected of espionage activities for the Belarusian secret services. In the territory of the Republic of Poland, the detained carried out tasks consisting in the recognition of objects of strategic and critical importance for the defense of the Republic of Poland.
