Russia held by Uruguay /EURO 2012 News

Russia began their build-up to Euro 2012 with a 1-1 draw against Uruguay in Moscow on Friday.

Half-time substitute Alexander Kerzhakov levelled for the home side just 60 seconds after Liverpool striker Luis Suarez had put Uruguay ahead. Russia, spurred on by the 22,000 home crowd, started in lively fashion at the Moscow Lokomotiv stadium, pinning the South American champions back in an attempt to score an early goal.

But the Uruguay defence held firm, stifling Russian attacks with Galatasaray keeper Fernando Muslera in complete command.
