Republican People’s Party (CHP) chairman Kemal Kilicdaroglu Attends Reception of Labor Party

Turkey’s main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) chairman Kemal Kilicdaroglu attended a reception held by “Labor Party Friends of Turkey Group” in London on Monday.

Kilicdaroglu thanked Labor Party for its support to Turkey’s EU membership process, and said that Turkey had high expectations from Britain in this issue because Britain was one of the most important countries of the EU.

Noting that CHP wanted more democracy, freedom and gender equality in Turkey, Kilicdaroglu said that CHP was expecting the support of Labor Party in this issue.We want universal human rights, freedoms and democracy in Turkey with all conditions, he said. Labor Party’s chairman Ed Miliband wished luck to Kilicdaroglu in the general elections which will take place in Turkey in June.

Ed Miliband also thanked Turkish society, which has more than 300,000 people in Britain, for the important role they undertook in the country in economic, social and cultural aspects.

Expressing the support of Labor Party to Turkey’s EU membership, Miliband said that the EU became stronger with its members, and added that he wanted to see Turkey in the union.

Following the reception, Kilicdaroglu attended a dinner hosted in a Turkish restaurant and met with Turkish citizens there.
