Report from England: Haaland agreed with Manchester City

It is considered certain that Dortmund’s striker will draw his exit clause in the summer. It was still unclear which club could pay the Norwegian’s immense salary. Now a club has apparently found itself.

According to a media report, the possible change from Borussia Dortmund’s top star Erling Haaland to Manchester City is approaching. Coach Pep Guardiola’s English club have agreed with representatives of the 21-year-old striker on the conditions for a signature, the “Daily Mail” reported on Tuesday.

Accordingly, Haaland is expected to receive a five-year contract and become the highest-paid player in the Premier League. His salary is said to be £500,000 (around €603,000) per week. It is expected that City will pull the release clause for the Norwegian.

Recently there were reports that Haaland’s advisor Mino Raiola and father Alf-Inge Haaland would have to scale back their financial demands for a move to City. Haaland can leave BVB after this season thanks to a €75m exit clause. Borussia Dortmund’s license player boss Sebastian Kehl had denied at the weekend that an interested party had already reported.

Manchester United and Bayern out of the running

Haaland has been associated with various top clubs for months. Real Madrid are also said to be interested. According to the American TV broadcaster ESPN, he has now canceled Manchester United. Haaland’s contract in Dortmund runs until the summer of 2024.

CEO Oliver Kahn explained on Sunday that Haaland’s commitment to FC Bayern Munich was not financially feasible. “We wouldn’t do our job well if we didn’t deal with a young striker,” said Kahn in Sport1’s “double pass”. However, a package consisting of a fee and a salary for the top scorer is “very, very far from what we imagine. These are financial dimensions that are beyond our imagination.”

Erling Haaland History

Erling Haaland was born on 21 July 2000 in Leeds and plays for Borussia Dortmund. He played for Bryne FK from 2006-2017, for Molde FK from 2017-2018, for FC Red Bull Salzburg from 2019-2019 and has played for Borussia Dortmund since 2020.

Current Season 2021/22

In the ongoing season, the 1.94m-tall forward has already scored 18 goals, which puts him in the third position on the league’s scorer list. With seven assists, he currently has the third-most in his team along with Jude Bellingham. In total, Erling Haaland has taken 67 shots at goal and therefore fought his way to eighth place in the league-wide statistics. Until now, he has been responsible for 19 passes to a shot and has therefore earned himself seventh place within the statistics of his club. In 17 of the previous 20 games of the season, he was in the starting line-up. Of these 20 games, Erling Haaland won 14 with his club. Additionally, he was substituted in for three games.

His maximum speed is currently 36.3 km/h, securing the 21-year-old fifth place in the league statistics.

Last Game

The player with the shirt number 9 played his last game on the 30th matchday of the 2021/22 season (16 April 2022). He was victorious over VfL Wolfsburg while playing for Borussia Dortmund with a score of 6-1. He played as a forward throughout this entire game. There, he scored two goals and provided one assist. He shot at the opponent’s goal a total of three times, which is the highest amount of any player in the game. In terms of total touches, Erling Haaland had 36 individual ball possessions. Furthermore, he had 16 tackle challenges in the last match. Of these, he was able to win eight. Erling Haaland covered a distance of 9.2 km during his total playing time in this game. In doing so, he had a total of 24 sprints.

Bundesliga Career and Records

Erling Haaland has played 63 matches in the course of his career in the Bundesliga. Of these, he has won 42. He has played all the matches of his career in the Bundesliga as a member of Borussia Dortmund. Here, Erling Haaland has put a total of 58 balls in the net. With a total of 58 goals in his Bundesliga career so far, he presently takes 10th place on the active scoring chart.

Erling Haaland appears to be edging closer to a move to Man City amid reports that personal terms have been agreed.

The Norwegian striker has long been linked to the Premier League club and head to the team his father, Alf-Inge, played for in the early 2000s.

The 21-year-old has become one of the most coveted talents in world football as he developed into a deadly striker at Borussia Dortmund.

He has a remarkable record of 82 goals in 85 games since joining from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020, opting for Germany over Manchester United.

A £63million release clause in his contract means he is available for a cut price fee and all the top clubs in Europe have been sounded out.

His dad, and the player’s agent Mino Raiola, have held talks with a number of teams as they weigh-up their next move.

The list of candidates have been whittled down to City, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

The Mail report that City have agreed terms with Haaland’s representatives to make him the highest paid player in the Premier League.

The five-year £500,000-a-week they are prepared to pay him would eclipse the money being paid to Cristiano Ronaldo.

The report adds that the £63million release clause is set to be triggered imminently.

Dortmund have denied that a deal is in place, but it seems inevitable that Haaland will be playing away from the Bundesliga club.

City have been playing without a recognised centre forward for the majority of the season and former Rangers striker Ally McCoist thinks this is terrifying for the rest of the league.
