Renault To Build Fluence Electric Car In Turkey
French automotive group Renault SA (RNO.FR) said Friday it will build the electric version of its Fluence sedan at the plant at Bursa, Turkey, which it shares with local company Oyak Yatirim Ortakligi AS.
Production will start in the first half of 2011 on the same production line as the fuel-powered versions of the Fluence.
Renault plans to launch four different electric cars by the end of 2011. Two will be made in France at Renault’s plants at Flins, west of Paris and Maubeuge, in northern France, one at Valladolid, Spain and the fourth at Bursa.
The low production costs in Turkey will allow Renault to sell the electric Fluence at the same price as the fuel-powered version.
