Real Madrid have qualified to the the knock out stages of the Champions League in convincing form topping Group C with 13 points, AC Milan came 2nd with 9 points after a surprise 1-1 draw with FC Zurich.
The Real Madrid side looked on top form especially with the enigmatic Christiano Ronaldo on form it was a formula waiting to be unleashed on Marseille. Ronaldo scored 2 goals, the first a 30 metre stunning free kick and his second a pouncing shot when the ball dropped in front of him after the Marseille goalkeeper and defender crashed into each other.
The Real Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini was particularly pleased with Ronaldo’s performance and said on the Thursday’s edition of sports paper Diario AS “He is a player, who is very important because he makes the difference. The two goals will be very useful for him,”
The Manager added “Part of the merit of this team is that it was able to go to the top of the league without him. We have seen that he was not at all affected by his sending off last Saturday, I was very pleased by the confidence and the attitude we showed in going for the win. We gave a solid performance. It was a tough game, but we came prepared and we were better than Marseilles”.
The Raul Albiol also scored in the game after a corner kick froped right infrontof him 16 yards out of the goal mouth.
