Real Madrid’s star striker Gonzalo Higuain has committed himself to re-paying Jose Mourinho’s faith in him with goals.
The Argentinean star who netted 27 goals in 32 appearances in the La Liga alone has been silent compared to last season scoring only two goals in six appearances.
However Jose Mourinho has kept his trust with the 22-year-old goal machine and expects many more goals from last season’s top Real Madrid scorer.
The Argentinean said after the Deportivo La Coruna 6-1 thrashing “His (Mourinho) words reassuring. It is very important support and I will continue working hard to restore that trust.”
Higuain continued “I was always calm. Last year I was scoring. The year before as well. I know the goals will come and it doesn’t bother me. Before no chances were going in and now things change slowly. I must remain calm.
“A striker always promises goals. Hopefully I can get a lot. Confidence for a striker it is always important. I hope to and must continue this form.”
Real Madrid has an influx of attacking footballers with the likes of Benzema, Kaka, Di Maria, Ozil, Cristiano Ronaldo, Higuain and many others.
And though the Galacticos have not met their goal scoring ways since last season they have certainly conceded much less compared to the last campaign.
Real Madrid has scored 15 goals in eight games (Six La Liga and two Champions League) and have concede a total of two goals.
However, many pundits have seen this record as a typical Mourinho team with few goals scored but fewer goals conceded as was the case at Chelsea and Inter Milan.
