Radeon 7000 GPU ‘s get higher power consumption and better efficiency
Radeon 7000 GPU / AMD's senior vice president, Sam Naffziger, told Tom's Hardware in an interview that graphics card power consumption will continue to increase.
Radeon 7000 GPUs get higher power consumption and better efficiency / This is due to slowing the release of smaller and more efficient production processes. Over the next few years, the red camp will improve performance per watt in several ways, but not enough to cut power consumption while remaining competitive.
For rdna 3, a 50 percent improvement in performance per watt is claimed. Together with an increased power budget, this would mean that the next generation will achieve almost twice the performance level of rdna 2, thanks in part to the use of multiple chiplets.
It is not yet clear whether AMD will also use the new PCIe 5.0 power connector with 16 pins and a power of up to 600 watts. If the 400W is exceeded, two 8-pin plugs will no longer suffice, and a set of three connectors has so far only been used on luxury versions of board partners.
