The Russian President dismissed Dmitry Rogozin by decree.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has fired the head of the Roscosmos space agency, Dmitry Rogozin. A corresponding decree was published on the Kremlin’s website on Friday.
The new head of Roskosmos will be Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borissov. As Deputy Prime Minister, Borisov was responsible for the military-industrial complex. In Russia, this also includes space travel.

In the past few weeks, Borisov had initiated the conversion of the economy to the needs of warfare. Companies can now be obliged to fulfill government contracts and their employees can be forced to work overtime and waive vacation days. After his appointment, Manturov is to head the state armaments commission.
There is still no official information about the fate of the previous Roskosmos boss Rogozin. According to media reports, the hardliner, who was photographed giving the Hitler salute as a participant in the nationalist “Russian March” before his political career, will either take up a leading position in the presidential administration or become one of the Kremlin curators in the separatist regions of Donetsk, which Moscow recognizes as independent, or Luhansk in eastern Ukraine. Russia justifies the war against the neighboring country, which began almost five months ago, with the necessary “denazification” of Ukraine, among other things.
Also on Friday, Russian President Putin appointed Industry Minister Denis Manturov as Deputy Prime Minister.
