Princess Charlène takes a stand on the rumors surrounding her marriage

The Monegasque stayed away from her homeland for months. The official reason: health problems. However, the speculation about a marriage crisis between Charlène and Albert does not want to stop. Now she speaks for the first time.

Last year, Charlene traveled from Monaco to a charity project in South Africa – and did not return to her native Monaco for six months. Officials said a severe infection prevented them from traveling. But even after her return in November, the 44-year-old did not stay long in the principality, but withdrew to an unknown location due to “physical and emotional exhaustion”.

The long spatial separation from her husband Prince Albert, with whom she did not even spend their tenth wedding anniversary, repeatedly gave rise to rumors of a marriage crisis in the royal couple. It has been reported that Charlene is only faking her health problems and even planning to continue her life far away from Monaco. Although Albert repeatedly denied such claims, they did not want to tear them down.

“I find it unfortunate”

Since March, Charlène has been back with her husband and their seven-year-old twins, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella. On Tuesday, the Princess attended the MCFW Fashion Awards as part of Monte-Carlo Fashion Week in Monaco, of which she is the patron. She not only spoke about her current state of health, but also cleared up speculation about an alleged divorce and a new place of residence.

“I find it unfortunate that some media are spreading such rumors about my life and relationship,” she told Monaco-Matin magazine. They have emotions and weaknesses just like everyone else, “only our family is put on display in the media and every weakness, no matter how small, is spread,” says Charlène.

She is very grateful to her husband for having her back during this difficult time. “Albert supported me enormously,” said the mother of two, emphasizing: “He did everything to protect me and our children.” She now wants to look ahead and focus on her loved ones and her recovery. “I’m very happy to be back home in Monaco and with my family,” Charlène took the last wind out of her critics’ sails.
