Britain’s Prince William, looking to understand the plight of the homeless, even if for a night, took to the London streets.
With temperatures hovering around -4 C, certainly would give anyone a biting reality, including Prince William as he and Seyi Obakin bunked down for the night.
The reality of sleeping in the bitter cold behind a garbage can or two is something many homeless here in Vancouver can identify with.
The Prince exposed to the elements and criminal elements for a night may not give him the full insight of the homeless plight, but even a taste is enough to bring the point home.
It has been said Canadians are only one or two paycheques from poverty and homelessness should give us all a reality check, a reality the homeless face day in and day out.
Christmas season is upon us, soup kitchens and shelters are in dire need of money to feed and clothe the many, notwithstanding, a donation or two would go a long way in ensuring those whose home are the streets have a hot meal and a place to warm place sleep.
