President Vladimir Putin has warned that Russia will retaliate against any internal or external national security threat.
Addressing an annual meeting of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, or the FSB, Thursday, Putin said that other countries were allegedly resorting to several methods of intimidation against Russia, including political isolation and economic sanctions.
According to Anadolu Agency, “Russia cannot be intimidated and pressured. Nobody has succeeded in doing that and nobody will. We will respond to any internal or external threats against our national security accordingly,” he said.
He said that last year had been difficult for world politics. “But the conditions will not always stay the same. The conditions will be in our favor only if we stay strong, not if we bend over,” he added.
He said that last year Russia unmasked 290 “foreign spies”, and terrorist related crimes declined by 2.6 percent compared with 2013. Also, the FSB successfully blocked 74 million cyber-attacks in 2014.
Putin also said that the U.S.’s withdrawal from the missile defense system agreement damaged international modern security systems.
