Poland Air Disaster – Poland’s Presidents body arrives in Warsaw a day after he died in a plane crash in Russia with 134 senior members of parliament and Russian military forces.
A ceremony was organised yesterday as the body of the deceased Poland President arrived in Warsaw on Sunday a day after he and his wife died in a plane crash in Russia.
The coffin with the body of President Lech Kaczynski traveled yesterday through the streets of Warsaw, the capital of Poland amongst weeping crowd. The aircraft, model Tu-154 had flown to low during landing and hit the top of trees in foggy weather before crashing and killing all passengers.
The Polish president along with some of the countries top politicians and senior members of the Polish Armed Forces were all heading to Russia were a remembrance day was being held for Katyn massacre, where thousands of Poles were killed by Russian troops in the Soviet era.
The plane with the coffin wrapped in white and red flag landed at the Okecie Military Airport on Sunday afternoon where a small ceremony was held in which the presidents immediate family attended including his brother Jaroslaw, his daughter and senior government officials.
Contrary to earlier information that appeared in the media, The body of the Presidents wife has still not been identified along many other victims in the Plane crash.
Russian officials have also reported that family members of the Polish Air Disaster have already been flown to Moscow where the bodies were transferred to.
Russian authorities are asking for patience for the identification process as some of the bodies are beyond recognition. All flags were at half mast today in Russia for the victims of the crash.
