Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on the CSKA Moscow midfielder after losing out Luka Modric, David Bentley, Van der Vaart and Niko Kranjcar this summer
CSKA Moscow attacking midfielder, Alan Dzagoev, is in the sphere of interest of English Premier League club, Tottenham Hotspur, after their manager, Andre Villas Boas spoke about his admiration for the 22-year-old midfielder.
The English club are keeping tabs on Dzagoev after the former Krylia Sovetov Samara player widely impressed while playing the qualifying matches for his national team at the World Cup.
If speculations are to be believed, the Spurs tried to sign Dzagoev last summer. However, they failed to meet the asking price of the Moscow-based club as they had little time for negotiations after selling Luka Modric to Real Madrid at the eleventh hour of the transfer window.
Modric left the White Hart Lane after following in the footsteps of Rafael Van der Vaart, Niko Kranjcar, Steven Pienaar and David Bentley respectively.
As things stand, Tottenham desperately needs reinforcements despite signing prolific midfielders in Gylfi Sigurdsson and Moussa Dembele as their winter signing, Scott Parker, would not be able to help his team after sustaining an ankle injury that will keep him on the sidelines until next year.
There is little arguing to the statement that most of the players changed their mind to remain at the North London club after the club’s chairman, Daniel Levy, turned his back on Harry Redknapp.
The former Portsmouth head coach resigned as their manager after falling out with the chairman.
And while Levy has signed a new coach in shape of Villas Boas this summer, he is trying to provide what the Portuguese boss is asking him.
Boas initially asked Levy to sign Joao Moutinho from FC Porto after spending all cash received from Modric’s transfer. However, they turned their attention to sign Dzagoev after the Portuguese club refused to sell their prized asset.
When asked about a potential move to England, Dzagoev has remained tight lipped over the situation, saying that he will not comment about his future unless the club receives any formal proposal for his transfer.
