French President Nicolas Sarkozy’s son Pierre Sarkozy escaped a lethal mudslide in Brazil.
The Daily Mail reports that the eldest son of the French leader and his first wife, Marie-Dominique Culioli, was on holiday and witnessed torrents of mud crashing around the home he was staying at while on winter break.
Pierre Sarkozy, age 24, was reported to be a guest of family friends on the Isle of Pigs when calamity struck Friday morning and a wave of mud and debris came loose, crashing down and killing dozens of people.
The Mail reports that the “thousands of tons of mud, trees and debris” came crashing down on homes and a hotel full of New Years’ party attendees.
Sarkozy escaped any harm in what the French and British press are hailing as “miraculous” considering his proximity to the carnage.
The Mail claims that Pierre was a guest of his step-mother Carla Bruni-Sarkozy’s plastic surgeon, Ivo Pitanguy.
