A senior Pakistani woman politician has floated the idea of setting up of joint Islamic army on pattern on NATO to protect the Muslim interests.
Islamabad, July 21/Nationalturk – A senior Pakistani woman politician has called on Muslim countries to form a joint Islamic army on pattern on NATO to protect the Muslim interests.
“When Western countries, including US, Britain, France, Canada and others could join hands to protect their interests by forming a joint military alliance in the shape of NATO, then why are Muslim countries reluctant to form a joint Islamic army,” said Pakistani woman politician and senior leader of PML-Q Salma Hashmi.
She said the Islamic army should be funded jointly by all Muslim countries and can protect the interest of Muslims.
Expressing concern over the growing civilian casualties in Gaza in Israeli troops action, Hashmi said Islamic Army can halt “Israeli atrocities” on the innocent people of Palestine.
“Israeli fighter jets and military tanks have been killing innocent Palestinians including women and children but the governments of Muslim countries have been issuing just condemnation statements,” she said.
The death toll of Palestinians in over two week long military operation by Israeli troops crossed 500 on Monday. Among the dead are over 100 children including toddlers.
‘Islamic army can stop Israeli aggression in Gaza’
Hashmi said all Muslim countries must take immediate measures to form a joint Islamic army if they serious to stop brutal Israeli attacks on Palestinian people and ensure peace in the region.
Pakistan government has called on Israeli government to stop its military operation in Gaza and end hostilities.
There have been near daily anti-Israel protests in Pakistan and many other Muslim countries after Israeli troops launched air strikes on Gaza two weeks ago.
A 14-year-old boy in Indian Kashmir was killed on Saturday when Indian forces fired on a group of people protesting against Israel.
