According to Pakistani officials, about 4000-6000 Pakistanis are stranded in Libya, where the security situation is deteriorating due to fighting between rival militia groups, who fought together to oust Colonel Gaddafi and overthrow his government.
Over 200 people have been killed in last two weeks in fighting between rival militias in Libya’s two main cities – Tripoli and Benghazi.
“The security situation in Libya has deteriorated and warranted immediate action to repatriate all Pakistani nationals awaiting evacuation,” they said.
