Pakistan army has said its soldiers have not been deployed in oil rich Saudi Arabia.
Islamabad, Aug 4/Nationalturk – Pakistan army soldiers have neither been sent to Saudi Arabia nor deployed on Saudi Arabia’s borders with Iraq to fight Islamic State (IS) formerly ISIS militants, Pakistan army has said.
“No Pakistani soldiers are being sent or being deployed in Saudi Arabia as reported in a section of the media,” Pakistan’s army spokesman Maj-Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa said on Twitter.
There were media reports that Saudi Arabia has deployed Pakistani and Egyptian soldiers along its frontiers with Iraq to prevent IS militants from infiltrating into the oil-rich country.
Pakistan arm spokesman termed the media reports as “baseless” and far from truth.
Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are close allies
Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have close ties and Saudi Arabia has been bailing out Pakistan government by providing it monetary assistance from time to time.
Few months back, the Saudi government provided 1.5 billion dollars to Pakistan government.
There have also been media reports that Saudi Arabia has deployed additional least 30000 troops along Iraq border to prevent IS militants or any other jihadists from infiltrating into the country.
There have been media reports that Islamic State, which has gained large swathes of territory in Syria and Iraq, is creation of Saudi Arabia to fight Shia forces in Syria and Iraq. However, Saudi government has denied these allegations and termed such reports as “rubbish”.
